We were instructed to recruit the new Chief Operating Officer for one of Europe’s leading coal producers. The individual needed to be a qualified Mining Engineer with approximately 20 years’ experience in a challenging environment (location). They wanted an individual who had not worked in Poland or the Polish State owned and run mining companies, but had to be a fluent Polish speaker. The client was keen to recruit an individual with a Western mindset and approach as they were tasked with delivering a world class project, undertaking the pre-feasibility study which would finalise the technical approach to be taken in the feasibility study. We recruited a professional mining engineer with international experience in design, construction and management of coal projects in Mongolia, Africa and Australia, who is also a Polish National.
