Gavin Orr, Founder and Founder and Head of Private Equity Practice

Gavin founded Lomond in 1999 and has operated as a head-hunter at both Board and Senior Management level on domestic and international assignments for Lomond’s client. Previously Gavin was a Director at DLA, a global search firm head quartered in London. Prior to this, Gavin was a practising Solicitor with KPMG in London within their Financial Institutions Practice and Burnside Advocates in Aberdeen where he worked on high profile personal injury actions including Lockerbie, Piper and Cormorant Alpha. Gavin graduated from Aberdeen University in Law.

Andrew Abercrombie, Head of Financial Services Practice

Andrew joined Lomond’s Financial Services practice in 2005. He has experience of appointing at Board and Senior Management level across a range of operational and commercial functions including General Management, Commercial Leadership, Finance, Risk and Operations for a range of Corporate and Private Equity backed clients. Prior to joining Lomond Andrew was a Relationship Director in the Corporate Bank at RBS having worked in Banking and Finance since graduating in 1995.

Caroline Reid, Head of Retail Practice

Caroline joined Lomond’s European Retail & Consumer practice in 2009. Previously Caroline was with one of the major global search companies focusing on retail operations and Head Office appointments across the management suite. Caroline started her career on the graduate management programme with Marks & Spencer working in head office and retail operations in London and the South West. Caroline is a fluent Spanish and French speaker and a graduate from Aberdeen University where she read European Business with Spanish and French.

Christian Williams, Head of Mining & Natural Resources Practice

Christian joined Lomond in 2006 following five years with one of the UK's fastest growing recruitment companies. Christian leads Lomond's Global mining and natural resources practice, partnering our extensive client portfolio including Anglo American, Rio Tinto, Arcelor Mittal, Nyrstar as well as various AIM, ASX and TXU clients. He has completed Board and Senior management searches in the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Australia. He also has extensive experience of appointing in Country Managers to lead specific projects in challenging and political environments. Christian is an Economics and Languages graduate from Durham University and speaks French and Spanish fluently. He is currently a resident in Australia, splitting his time between there and the UK.

David Lindsay, Head of Engineering & Industrials

David brings 20 years’ experience in defence leadership and management roles to Lomond. The Royal Navy’s last senior Commanding Officer of its Harrier jet force, and Chief of Staff for the new aircraft carrier programme, he has extensive experience of leading and managing large teams through difficult transition processes. Having worked at the heart of the Government’s Crisis Management Organisation, David believes that high quality intelligence-gathering is key to strategic planning and gaining a competitive advantage. A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, David has a master’s degree in Defence Studies and an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.
